Special Notes: | |
Songs 1-8 were recorded for a Boston hardcore compilation that never got released. it was recorded on june 25th, 1996 by Bill T. Miller at a 16 track, 1" reel studio. most of these songs got re-recorded for our cd "I Like it When You Die", But it was at a 16 track 1/2" reel studio. i think the versions of the songs on this cd are much heavier than the ones on "i Like it When You Die" because they were recorded at a better studio. songs 9,10,13, and 14 were recorded by Ken Cmar at New Alliance studios in boston sometime in 1999 on their 16 track, 1" reel machine. songs 11 & 12 were recorded at New Alliance Also, but were done on the 24 track 2" reel machine. you can notice the difference in heaviness with the 24 track recordings. track 15 (religious vomit) was done at Bill T. millers 16 track 1/2 inch reel studio in 1997. tracks 16 & 17 were recorded by Ken Cmar at New Alliance (in 1999) on the 16 track 1" machine, but tracks 18 & 19 were done on the 24 track 2" reel machine (in 1999), and they are noticeably heavier, tracks 20 & 21 were recorded in early 1997 at Bill T. Millers 16 track, 1/2 " reel studio. this was during one of the times Nate quit the band, so I (seth putnam) played drums on these songs. the last 2 songs (22 & 23) were recorded before josh joined the band. Tim Morse was already out of the band, so they were recorded by me on drums and vocals and Scott Hull on Guitar. This was Scott's final thing to do with Anal Cunt .

Songs 1 - 6 and 11 were recorded and mixed on January 3rd, 2003. We were in
a rush to get it done because Thor wanted to use the "Throwing Cars at
People......." song for his next movie. I recorded it with a version of me
singing his vocals so he would get the idea of the timing, and I also sent
him a version with his vocal spots not there so he could record them. Thor's
publicist sent me a copy of the finished version, and I noticed it sounded
exactly the same as my vocals, but when I called him on it, he said that it was impossible
for it NOT to be Thor singing, because he was "the
worlds biggest Thor fan" and could "definitely tell that it was Thor's voice."
So, I had
him call Thor 3-way so we could both talk to him at once. Thor then admitted that
he couldn't get the timing down on the song, so he basically used my voice
as his. If you listen very carefully on the Thor version of the song on his
cd, "Triumphant," you can hear his vocals faintly in the
background, totally off time. I asked him why he didn't just use his vocals
and he said he had
never heard music like that before in his life, and then asked us to keep this a
secret amongst the "brotherhood of steel." So, I was totally bummed out that
I didn't get to do the duet with Thor I was hoping for. That really sucked.
Another fact from this session is that the song "Alcoholic" was originally
an Anal Cunt Song. We were supposed to do the second recording session in October, 2004, but I (Seth Putnam) caught a coma in the beginning of October for a month and when I got out of it, I couldn't move any part of my body except my eyes and mouth. It took 9 months before I was able to walk again. so obviously we had to postpone the recording. On November, 2007, we went to do the second session so we would have enough material for a full length cd. By this time, Ken Felton from Limited Appeal records had already released the first session (minus the Thor song, which Thor used on his cd, "triumphant" on a limited edition 12" of somewhere around 240 copies. we recorded 4 songs, "leech", which is probably one of the heaviest songs ever written, "for those about to rock (we salute you)" which was originally done by ac/dc, "fact finder", and the 15 minutes doom epic, "everything", which I had written in 1990 for another band i was in back then called George H. Brown. this record was recorded 100 % analog, so it would sound as heavy as possible on the 12" version (which limited appeal put out as well, making around 307 copies). it was recorded on a 24 track, 2" reel machine, and mixed down to 1/2 " reel. so, the vinyl version of this recording is 100 % analog for all of you purists out there. songs 7-10 are from this session. |

Since 2008 was the 20th anniversary of Anal Cunt, we got the original lineup back together and only did shows with this lineup all year and only did songs from the 1988-1990 period. This cd was recorded the way original Anal Cunt stuff should be recorded. we just borrowed a recorder from someone, pressed play and didn't stop until we were done. we didn't stop the recorder to take any breaks, or re-record mistakes or anything gay like that. What you get here is over 21 minutes of pure, raw Anal Cunt style blurcore. We tried recording it a couple of days earlier on some gay computer recorder which Tim assured me would be fine, but ended up sounding like Richard Simmons trying to pick which Polyphonic Spree Song he wanted to hear on the jukebox at a gay bar. So we threw that recording away, and tried again 2 days later with a different recorder that Tim borrowed from someone else. It sounds exactly the way the original lineup of Anal Cunt is supposed to sound, like a ferocious, violent, holocaust. The only thing that sucks about it a little is the little recorder couldn't handle my vocals like it should, so it's a little weaker than it sounded in the room when we recorded it, but it came out good enough. If you like the sound of Anal Cunt 's "Another E.P." then you'll love this- because it is much heavier, and more like an audio sledgehammer to your face. If you didn't like the sound of "Another E.P." then go inject some more of Bruce Vilanch's cum into your veins, faggot.
